Mamine Living med i Breakits Startupkollen

A small idea born in motherhood is becoming something bigger. 🤍

We’re so happy to share that Mamine Living has been featured in Breakit’s Startupkollen, where the Swedish business publication highlights new and emerging startups.

In their introduction to Mamine, Breakit describes us as a new Swedish design brand focusing on a very particular space: “maternity interiors” - interiors designed around the mother.

And for us, those two words capture exactly why Mamine exists.

It started with a simple question

When we were preparing our own homes for the arrival of our babies, we noticed something.

So much thought goes into creating a home for a new baby: The cot. The changing table. The pram. The nursery. Every tiny detail carefully chosen and prepared.

But when we looked for something designed specifically around our own needs as mothers, there was surprisingly little.

Where was the beautiful place to recover?
To put your feet up during the final weeks of pregnancy?
To spend those long nights feeding?
To hold a sleeping baby against your chest for just a little longer?

That question became the beginning of Mamine.

Creating a new space in interiors

Breakit described our niche as “maternity interiors”, and it’s a category we want to help define.

To us, maternity interiors means looking at the home through the experience of motherhood - creating furniture and products that consider the physical and emotional needs of the mother, without asking her to compromise on beautiful design.

Because preparing a home for a baby shouldn't only mean designing for the baby.

A mother lives there, too.

Starting with the chair

Our first answer to that idea was the chair - created after we struggled to find the kind of chair we wanted in our own homes.

A place for the growing bump. For feeding. For rocking. For contact naps. For those quiet moments in between.

But importantly, we wanted it to feel like a beautiful piece of furniture first - something that could remain part of your home long after the baby years were over.

And the chair is only the beginning.

As Mamine grows, our ambition is to continue exploring what it means to design around motherhood - through furniture, clothing and thoughtfully considered products made for the different stages of becoming and being a mother.

A little Mamine milestone

Being included in Startupkollen feels particularly special because Mamine started with two mothers, one shared experience and an idea we felt was missing from the market.

Seeing maternity interiors now being described outside of Mamine makes us even more excited about what we're building.

There is so much designed for the baby.

We’re here to design for her. 🤍
